A European call for projects to foster tomorrow’s inclusive technologies for digital inclusion

Applications can be submitted online starting July 30, 2025, on the Contentsquare Foundation website https://www.contentsquare-foundation.org/apply/

Paris, July 30, 2025 - Following the success of its first edition in 2024, the Contentsquare Foundation – a philanthropic initiative launched by Contentsquare – officially announces the second edition of its Accessibility Innovation Prize. This award is open to all European projects developing concrete, bold, and scalable solutions that help remove digital barriers faced by the 100 million people with disabilities in Europe.

This 2nd edition is in partnership with Skyscanner, eBay and Snowflake.

According to Marion Ranvier, CEO of the Contentsquare Foundation: “With this award, we want to identify and support grassroots innovators who are actively transforming digital access for people with disabilities. Technology can and must be a driver of empowerment.”

A prize that rewards impact, boldness, and inclusion

The Accessibility Innovation Prize recognizes and supports projects with high potential to advance disability inclusion, regardless of their approach — whether through assistive technology, design, AI, or software.

The winner will receive:

  • A €10,000 grant from the Contentsquare Foundation
  • Tailored mentorship from partners
  • Visibility and media exposure, including the opportunity to showcase their innovation
  • Privileged access to a network of industry experts

2025 eligibility criteria

Projects must demonstrate a tangible improvement in digital accessibility, and meet the following criteria:

  • Based in an European Union member state or the United Kingdom
  • Be less than 5 years old
  • Have a functional prototype or MVP

This year, the Contentsquare Foundation identified five strategic, but non restrictive, focus areas to guide applicants.

Focus areas for 2025:

  • AI for accessibility (Ex. Generative AI for alternative text, sign language video, simplified language chatbots, bias detection tools, etc…)
  • Compliance solutions for the EAA directive (in force since June 28, 2025 – Ex. toolkits for SMEs, automatic PDF remediation, accessibility statement generators, etc…)
  • Voice and speech accessibility (Ex. Atypical speech recognition, personalized text-to-speech synthesis, smart/adaptive captioning, etc…)
  • Neurodiversity and cognitive inclusion (Ex. Low-load interfaces, sensory-friendly design for XR, inclusive analytics, etc…)
  • Emerging technologies (Ex. Haptic wearables, brain-computer interfaces, inclusive XR, accessible gaming, etc…)

A first edition already making an impact

In 2024, the award was granted to SensePilot, a Lithuanian startup that enables users to control a computer or video game using only head movements and facial gestures – with a simple webcam. Since winning, the solution has been rolled out in several countries, securing further funding and broad recognition.

Key dates:

  • Applications can be submitted starting July 30, 2025 until October 10, 2025 through https://contentsquare-foundation.org/apply/

About the Contentsquare Foundation

A Philanthropic Initiative for a Web Accessible to All

Founded in 2021 under the leadership of Marion Ranvier (CEO) and Jonathan Cherki (President), the Contentsquare Foundation focuses on raising awareness of digital accessibility, research, and innovation.

Positioned at the crossroads of innovation and social impact, the Foundation works to reshape the digital world to better meet the needs of people with disabilities and address challenges posed by an aging global population. Its tech-driven and educational approach has made it a key player in France’s digital accessibility landscape, uniting experts, companies, and institutions around the mission of inclusive digital transformation.

With 70% of online content still inaccessible to people with disabilities, the Foundation is determined to make the web truly inclusive — as it was originally intended. Its strategy rests on three pillars:

  • Training: Preparing the next generation of professionals by embedding digital accessibility into educational and professional programs, with a target of 25,000 students trained by 2025.
  • Advocacy: Making accessibility a national and international priority for public and private decision-makers. Through its Accessibility Barometer and the Accessibility Consortium, it mobilizes stakeholders to influence policy and promote inclusive practices.
  • Research & Innovation: In partnership with research institutes — such as Institut de la Vision, the Ministry for Digital Affairs, Microsoft, L’Oréal, Skyscanner, Ynov, the French Ministry for the Elderly and Disabled, and the Institute for the Blind — the Foundation supports the development of inclusive technologies, especially for people with dyslexia.

Believing that digital accessibility is a right, the Contentsquare Foundation is committed to building a more inclusive digital world. contentsquare-foundation.org
